Hydrography
Programme
The Hydrography B postgraduate course has a duration of one year and can be adapted to each student's qualifications and/or professional career. This one-year programme corresponds to a total of 60 ECTS credits. Throughout this period, blended learning is interspersed with immersive fieldwork experiences.
Training Record Book
The Training Record Book (TRB) is a key component of the Hydrography Category B postgraduate programme. Specifically developed for hydrographic fieldwork, it aligns with the IHO S-5B Standards of Competence (1st edition, 2017) and serves as the main tool for documenting and evaluating students' progress during their practical training.
Designed to build competence across a wide range of hydrographic tasks, the TRB guides students through essential assignments considered core to the professional role of a Category B hydrographic surveyor. By applying a broad spectrum of techniques in real-world conditions, students gain valuable hands-on experience.
To support this process, the Antwerp Maritime Academy and Ghent University collaborate with professional partners who offer internship placements within their hydrographic departments. These environments provide expert supervision and appropriate equipment, ensuring a high-quality learning experience.
Students are responsible for arranging their fieldwork placement, with access to a list of trusted partner organisations provided by the programme.
