Establishing connections in Mexico

HZS student François Requier went to Mexico within the framework of his Master thesis. He received a VLIR-UOS Travel Grant of 1000 euros and support from the HZS.

In his Bachelor thesis François compared the maritime education of European institutions and the maritime academy of Mazatlán (Mexico). In his Master thesis he focuses on the Mexican Nautical Education System (FIDENA).

His ultimate goal is to create a partnership between the Antwerp Maritime Academy and the Mexican Nautical Education System (FIDENA).

The first step of the cooperation will be the exchange of teachers: in November Ms. Ludwina Van Son (also François’ thesis promotor) and Ms. Alison Noble are planning to teach at the maritime academy of Mazatlán.
