Academic Calendar

The academic year is divided into two semesters or four modules. At the end of each semester or module an examination session is held.

Academic year 2018 - 2019
21 September 2018, 10 am: Info session for new students
Start: 24 September 2018 (1st semester) - 4 February 2019 (2nd semester)
End: 5 July 2019 (public announcement of the results)

Holiday periods
Christmas break: 24 December 2018 till 4 January 2019
Easter break: 8 April 2019 till 19 April 2019

Exam periods
January examinations mark the end of the first semester
June/July examinations mark the end of the second semester
Resits: end of August until mid September
For modular programmes: examinations are held at the end of each module.

Before leaving your country

Erasmus + documents are available on this site (see How to apply & application forms).
Incoming students are not required to pay tuition fees at the host institution.

For enrolment at the Antwerp Maritime Academy, please contact the co-ordinator International Relations ( to make an appointment. Please bring:

  • a document from your home university, describing your status as an Erasmus + student
  • a valid identity card or passport
  • 1 passport photo
  • proof of health insurance


Uniforms are compulsory at the Antwerp Maritime Academy for all students, including incoming Erasmus students. For details on uniform regulations, please look at annex D in our brochure:

Students wishing to view rooms in Antwerp before choosing accommodation, can stay for a while at a local youth hostel.

The best way to get to the Antwerp Maritime Academy is by bike. You can bring your bike or buy one, but it is also possible to rent a bike during your stay. Fietshaven ( and Uni-cycle ( are two interesting options in that case.
