The Antwerp Maritime Academy and the Carribean Maritime Institute (Kingston, Jamaica) signed an agreement for the establishment of joint research programmes and training between both institutions.
On the 20th of July, Captain Patrick Blondé, director general of the Antwerp Maritime Academy (HZS), and Dr. Fritz Pinnock, Executive Director of the Carribean Maritime Institute (CMI), affixed their signatures to the cooperation agreement. The signing of the agreement formalises the reciprocal participation in joint research and training between both institutions.
The Honourable Lester Michael Henry, the Jamaican Minister of Transport and Mining, had high praises for the partnership between the CMI and Antwerp Maritime Academy. "This partnership between the leading maritime university college in Europe and the leading maritime training institution in the Caribbean will create a union that is pregnant with great possibilities", he said.
